What do you think about proposing on Halloween?

My boyfriend is going to propose soon, we went ring shopping and I think he went to pick up the ring… What do you think about proposing on Halloween? I have hinted to him that I’d like that, it’s my favorite holiday, but he seems to think it’s too weird. Do you think it’s too negative or gloomy of a holiday for a proposal?

How can I subtly hint to him that I’d love a proposal on Halloween regardless of the nature of the holiday?

I don’t see anything wrong with being proposed to on Halloween if that’s what you’d enjoy. The only thing that might be an issue is that then it won’t be a surprise. I hinted to my boyfriend that I wanted a proposal for my birthday. I regretted it afterwards because then he said some things that made it obvious he was going to take me out to dinner on my birthday and do it then. I knew exactly what to expect, and it completely took the element of surprise and romance out of the proposal for me.

I think you should let him propose to you when he wants to and not try and hint what day you would like the proposal.

Why be subtle now? You already picked out the ring, you know he picked it up, and you’ve told him to propose to you on a specific day. Do you leave anything up to him?

Cook a romantic dinner and talk about all your favorite memories on Halloween. Talk about (I don’t know if this is true, but you could try) how you have always dreamed of being proposed to on Halloween.

Hint around that you love Halloween and all the memories of Halloween. Let him know Halloween is not a gloomy time for you. Besides, it’s just a proposal anyway.

I love Halloween! It is also my favorite holiday but he may not want to do it on that day because he knows that you are expecting it. Let him figure it out. I knew at some point my husband was going to ask me too, I was expecting it to be New Years but he did it 2 weeks before which totally took me off guard and I loved that it ended up being a surprise!

Well I personally think it’s rather odd, but to each her own ;)

Just talk about how excited you are for Halloween. Perhaps you can organize something that would give him the perfect opportunity to propose on Oct 31.
You two should watch a movie like Nightmare before Christmas (my fave!!!) or even a scary one together after dinner. Or you can organize a party of some sort. I’m not sure, but open up a window for him.
