Is Halloween a Pagan Holiday and do TRUE Christains Celebrate it?
"You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell" psalm4:4
Would a God such as this approve of Halloween
I agree that Halloween is a fun holiday and no one should be labled a bad person for dressing up. But my question was concerning the relationship between Christain beliefs and the fact that Halloween celebrates things that many of us would consider Scary and and the complete opposite of Righteousness. ![]()
Christians give the word "pagan" a bad name, although Halloween derives from a very old Irish holiday named Samhain, which is just a celebration of a changing of the seasons and to celebrate the dead.
It is my opinion that the christian god does not tolerate anything. The easier to control you with, my dear.

Halloween is innocent enough that I don’t think an almighty God with better things to do would worry about it!
It’s all Candy and Spooky stuff!
ITs for everyone, and its just for fun, god…
Pagans are not evil though . . .
If that’s the case, he wouldn’t appreciate Easter either. Or Christmas. After all, they’re also based on pagan holidays, just adapted a bit to a "new" religion’s traditions. I think the only truly Christian holiday is Passover — and Jews celebrate that more than Christians do. What does that say?
brace yourself, but christmas has origins in paganism too.
Yes, God does approve of Halloween. Because the Halloween of today is no longer the Pagan holiday. It’s a day of candy and fun. Times change, events change. God’s will and law too changes with the times. So hand out some candy.
Well in my religion I do not celebrate it because on Halloween ur worshiping the demons! Its found in the bible so don’t call me a lire. And no TRUE christens do not celebrate it!
i’m a true christian and i celebrated it when i was little then my family stopped and i’m 15 now. I really think it matters what the heart issue is the way you look at it and so on. I am gunna go to a halloween birthday party yea that’s my opion.
on halloween you dress up in costumes, your not harming anybody. You take religion too seriously and do not have respect for others beliefs. And halloween is not a religion based holiday anyways, would god approve of using the internet? after all you could be going on devil websites and sinning and stuff
im a christian and i do not believe halloween is wrong i think when satan is worshipped on halloween its wrong i think the christians who think its wrong are over doing it i dont get along with those types of christians they get in ur face all the time if ur really a christian u wouldnt care about whether halloween is right or wrong u would care about leading people to christ i think satan is wrong not halloween
It is devil worship. So is all the other holidays. It is not of God, not one bit. People just do as they please, not as God wants them to do…yet they expect him to give them eternal life.
Wake up. It is not going to happen. Why require holiness of people from the past, and then just let you today do as you please and join in all this wickedness?
God commands us not to try to worship him as the heathens do their gods. Deut 12.
No one can find any reference in Gods word telling us to do such wickedness. So we are not to do it unless he commands it.Deut.
Where are the people who desire to please our God?
Really? Then you find them not worshiping the devil through heathen holidays. And they are all heathen holidays. You can blind yourself to this all you wish, but it will condemn you at the judgment, for you disobey God.
God does not change and he never will change his requirement for holiness. You who think these junkie holidays are joy or fun, prove you have never truly met God. His presence and Holy Ghost is more joyful and happy than anything and everything else in this whole world. You simply are being cheated and think you have something worthwhile. It is of the devil and his servants you are who obey him. If it were of God, the Word of God would tell us to do it.
He forbids it. Like it or not, you cannot serve two masters. The JOY of the Lord is my strength. I do not need these foolish worldly events in my life.
Holloween is a fun holiday and you should lighten up.
It is not a Christian celebration and it best for Christians to avoid it. Even if they are celebrating it in a fairly harmless manner, they would still be supporting the concept.
The exception is alternative Halloween parties. Our church puts on such events to give local children a chance to have an evening out, like their friends are having, but without the connection to anything dodgy.
Halloween is not an evil thing. Evil is bad in a persons heart. That is not the true spirit of Halloween.
Umm…Halloween nowadays is just meant to be fun for everyone! Like I mean, who doesn’t love dressing up as something other than yourself and no one else can ever say anything about it? God would know that we’re all just trying to have a good time, like it’s really nothing. No offense but this question is really weird like wtf? Are you saying that by little children dressing up in Halloween costumes that they are causing "evil to dwell?" Um…no.
And with the whole "true" Christian thing, well, that actually can be rather offensive. And just because someone doesn’t follow every aspect of Christianity, or doesn’t read the bible doesn’t mean they aren’t true Christains. Super religious people are very arrogent and are often the least caring and giving people. And I’ve seen that. People are isolated and scorned on because their religion is different or maybe they don’t have one. What’s the whole "true Christain" thing anyway? Times and people are changing they are not going to look at things the same way and others should be more accpeting especially towards relgion and stuff. Hate to break it to all the extremists but not every crazy Christian is a good person! I mean, take some of the preist you heard about how molested children, or the Klu klux clan who discriminate people and other races? I mean that’s horrible! So I don’t think Halloween should be of anybody’s worry.
Halloween is the shortened form of All Hallows Eve which is a Roman Catholic holy day. All Hallows or All Saints Day is a day when the special people God chose to be his saints and martyrs are honored. The day after that, November 2nd is All Souls Day when all the souls of the dead are remembered and prayed for. So, technically, Halloween is a Christian holiday, but only if you go to Mass and conduct yourself as a strict Catholic would.
In reality, Halloween is pretty much a totally secular holiday with No religious overtones, pagan, Christian or otherwise. You could call it "Fantasy Day" and be more correct in your understanding of the day as it is celebrated now. And I think God doesn’t mind if we humans get a little silly one day year.
The old pagan celebration is called Samhain (pronounced Sahween) and was/is the celebration of the end of harvest and the honoring of the ancestors. This is hardly a ‘bad’ or ‘evil’ thing. Uneducated and/or biased people equate anything that was done before Christianity as evil and worshiping the devil, but that is just wrong, very UnChristian in attitude and something that God Does disapprove of. Jesus taught tolerance and acceptance of others; many so-called True Christians don’t seem to embrace that teaching.
Your questions are very simple to answer – all you have to do is research why Halloween is celebrated and be knowledgeable of God’s word. So to answer this. Yes it is and No they don’t!
I was listening to a Christian radio host (Frank Pastore) the other day who had a Christian historian "Jill Martin Rischie" on. She is an expert in theology and history and actually said that ALL of the roots from Halloween are taking from a CHRISTIAN background. The talk of Halloween being a Pagan holiday is drawn mostly on story telling and myth where there is NO documentation of them celebrating such an event.
If you don’t celebrate evil in dressing up for fun in Halloween you are not going against God. Christians nowadays have become so legalistic and I understand in a sense. But if you do things in honor to him, even if you chose to celebrate it as your day of dressing up and getting free candy, there’s nothing wrong in that. It’s not worshipping evil.
Witches/Pagans aren’t wicked. That’s just prejudice, misconception and stereotypes.
Our religious holiday is not celebrating– or about– scary things.
It is a harvest festival and a time to honor our ancestors. We give thanks for the Earth’s bounty and we pass on stories of those who have gone before us and how they have touched our lives. We reflect on the "seeds we’ve sown" for the year and what has come to fruition.
Halloween is a fun secular holiday. It is further removed from it’s Pagan roots than Christmas and Easter are.
